Microsoft: Predatory Business Practices
Microsoft has previously been ordered to pay damages in the U.S., after successful claims that it engaged in activities that artificially eliminated competition and subsequently jacked up software licence fees.
Now a British Columbia Supreme Court judge has certified a similar class action lawsuit, and more are expected to follow in other Canadian provinces. Potential cost to Microsoft has to run into the billions of dollars.
Prospective class members are people or companies who bought Microsoft software from re-sellers since 1994 - quite a lengthy time period.
The case name is Pro-Sys Consultants Ltd. v. Microsoft Corp. The Vancouver lawyer representing the plaintiffs is J.J. Camp.
